Our charity commitments
From your initial enquiry, you'll be assisted personally by myself, the owner of Bury St Edmunds Clearance.
We offer a free personal bespoke quote to discuss your requirements.
After briefly discussing your needs, we will arrange to meet with either yourself or a representative at the property and carry out a viewing for assessment purposes.
You do not need to sort out any items, bag any clothing, dispose of any rubbish or clear any food products. Simply leave everything to us as this is what we do - clear everything. The more you leave behind, the more we can donate to charity or recycle. Including items you would never consider suitable to give to charity or know which charity to give it to.
The reason we need to carry out viewings is to take into account all of the factors involved in the clearance procedure, such as the volume
to be cleared, vehicle size required, access, estimation of time required and any hazardous or dangerous materials to be handled. Once agreed, we provide a full written quotation, if required, with all the details recorded.
The next stage is to clear the property as agreed. A free cleaning service is included in all clearances which include carpet vacuuming, washing vinyl floors and wiping down flat surfaces such as worktops and shelving. Further cleaning services are available upon request.
When the property has been cleared to your satisfaction, we will provide you with a written invoice or receipt.
Once the contents arrive at our depot, they are carefully sorted for either recycling or donating to our favourite charities.
What we donate, and to whom
We understand fully what goods our chosen charities require and will accept, as have worked with them for a number of years.
Depending on the location of a clearance, we donate as follows:
- Clothing & material - Age UK, National Fire Fighters Charity or Oxfam
- Furniture - Age UK, St Nicholas Hospice or The Salvation Army
- Bric-a-brac - Oxfam, Age UK, The Salvation Army & Cancer Research UK
- Books/
CDs /DVDs - British Heart Foundation
Many, many other items are batched up and donated on a monthly basis, including the more unusual such as bras, reading glasses, hearing aids, bedding, newspapers and paper and bikes to name just a few.
We are happy to follow any request from our clients to support specific charities where possible.
